Spring Break and Easter

Matthew had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy 2 days before Spring Break was to begin, so he was a bit out of sorts at the beginning of our vacation. He spent most of Monday and Tuesday watching cartoons and playing Skylanders on the wii. Fortunately, he was well enough to take the trip to Buffalo on Wednesday: we went to the airport to pick up Grandma H.!

The boys were absolutely ecstatic to see her, though she had a bit of a shock to her system as the weather in New York is a bit different than the weather in California.

While Matthew was still a bit out of sorts, my mom helped me redo the boys' bedroom into a space theme. I had ordered a wallpaper border from amazon, and we bought paint from Home Depot. Before we did the renovation, the room looked like this:

When we were finished, the room was much cuter:

It is amazing what a coat of paint can do! Matt was particularly happy about the room, since he is really into space right now.

I think the light-saber nightlight is my favorite. Matthew received it from a friend for his birthday. The room isn't quite finished yet -I am waiting on two space porthole decals I ordered from Etsy.

Easter was fun, as Matthew was mostly recovered and we were able to enjoy some sunny weather for the first time in approximately six months (no joke - we are under constant cloud cover for about half of the year). We went to the Easter carnival at the Children's Safety Village, and the kids enjoyed getting candy and playing the carnival games.

Grandma had fun hiding the Easter eggs on Easter morning. It was mucky and snowy outside, so we didn't do an outdoor hunt.

We dyed Easter eggs and put glitter decals on them - they turned out quite well and the boys were proud of them.

The week following Easter was filled with doctor appointments, but we managed to have a great time visiting the Buffalo Museum of Science, made a trip to Chuck E. Cheese, and took a trip letterboxing to Allegany State Park. I'll post photos of those trips in separate posts. Grandma left on Saturday, and we were very sad to say goodbye. Hopefully it won't be long before we see her again!
