When it snows, I grumble. The native Californian in me rebels at the thought of frigid temperatures and slick roads.
My native New Yorkers, however, love the snow. Can't get enough of it. When the sun comes out, my oldest boy cries, "NO! It might melt the snow!"
I don't understand these strange little frozen creatures. I love them to pieces, but I'm definitely hoping the groundhog doesn't see its shadow this year!

Swifter, Higher, Fuzzier
"Mama, what's a gold medal?"
With the Olympics starting in a little over two weeks, I couldn't leave that question unanswered. This afternoon, the first official Stuffed Animal Olympics were held in Living Room, New York. Of course, when the medals are made out of aluminum foil and cardboard, they're all silver. At least the kids get the general idea.
The first event was "the Luge," and as one would suspect, Polar Bear beat Snowball the Rabbit and Whale hands-down. After all, winter sports are right up Polar Bear's alley. Surprisingly, the bunny made up some lost time and managed to gain the second place medal.
The second event was the race. While all the animals competed well, Polar Bear took the lead again, proving he is an all-season athlete. Snowball and Whale tied for second place. There were cheers while the winners took to the podium and received their medals.
While future competitions may be held later in the week, all events are currently on hold due to an unexpected nap delay.

Our Week:
Saturday: I go to a wonderful Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) retreat. I have fun with other mommies, while Dennis and the boys have "Man Day."
Saturday Night: Nolan throws up. A lot.
Sunday: See Saturday night.
Monday: Nolan gets a fever.
Tuesday: Nolan stays awake for 4 hours in the middle of the night. Fever disappears.
Wednesday: Nolan's sleep study.
Thursday: I take a two hour nap. Matt eats nothing. Nolan runs around like a maniac.
Thursday Night: I throw up. A lot.
Friday Morning: Matt comes downstairs and says, "I frowed up in my bed. Wanna play some soccer?" The answer, my dear boy, is "NO."
I am so glad this week is over tomorrow!

Sibling Rivalry
There have been many fights lately. Blocks have been thrown, hair has been pulled, and loud shrieks have sounded from nearly every corner of the house. The rivalry is intense right now, and we are muddling our way through the shouts and the strikes, trying to find a way to peace for the two boys.
Of course, just when you think a treaty can't be brokered among these wild ones, they'll climb up on the couch, sit next to one another, and be completely at peace.
They are:
Enemies...
Best friends...
Competitors...
Conspirators...
Brothers.
