Disney World, Day 5: Animal Kingdom (from February 2015)

Animal Kingdom is my favorite park. It is beautiful, wild, huge, and was uncrowded on the day we were there.

We woke up early and had a character breakfast at the Tusker House restaurant. The restaurant was fantastic and had traditional breakfast items as well as food with an African flair. Characters came by our table to interact with the boys in an uncrowded atmosphere.

The best thing about the character breakfast is that you are allowed into the park BEFORE it opens. We had the entire place to ourselves!

My parents arrived shortly after we were done with breakfast and we hopped on the safari. This park is so massive and beautiful, we really loved it.

Animal Kingdom does have some rides, including my favorite roller coaster - Expedition Everest. The theme is spectacular and the train-coaster through the Himalayas is ridiculously fun. There is also a ride called Dinosaur, which is the only ride that scared Nolan.

We really loved walking on the trails and exploring the animal habitats. The Asian section was my favorite.

We had lunch at the Yak and Yeti restaurant, which is highly recommended. The food was fantastic! We watched the Lion King show in the park (there are several fantastic live shows available) and let the boys play in the excellent dinosaur playground.

We allowed the boys to buy stuffed souvenirs on the way out.

I don't remember where we had dinner that night. I do know we went to Downtown Disney to visit Disney Quest, which is like a dream-land arcade for every 7 and 9 year old boy. The games are all free and we spent a few hours here letting the boys enjoy themselves.

We made it back to the hotel around 10 pm and the boys fell asleep instantly. Tomorrow: our last day at Disney World!
