Disney World Trip (2015): Day 3 - EPCOT

EPCOT is a massive park. We had spent time in Future World on our first day, but wanted to spend some time in the World Showcase to explore the different countries on the second day.

We explored the English gardens and shops. The boys played a Mission: Impossible type game with Phinneas and Ferb on an electronic device given to us by Disney.

Japan was quite cool and there were drummers playing outside of the pavilion.

All of the pavilions in EPCOT have cast members from that country. The name tags of the cast members state which city they are from - it is really fun to talk to everyone there.

Inside the Japan station, there is a pearl market. I surprised my mom and had the boys pick out an oyster for her and an oyster for me.

Matt picked out an oyster for Grandma. The oyster he picked out had two pearls inside!

This was a really fun experience and not very expensive. I highly recommend it! An entire pearl ceremony is performed and the kids got a real kick out of it. After the pearl ceremony, we took a boat ride across the lake (EPCOT is beyond massive in size) for our dinner reservation.

We ate lunch at a counter-service place that day, but had reservations for dinner at the Coral Reef. The restaurant is located inside an aquarium and my Mahi Mahi with Laughing Shrimp was extremely good. Dennis ordered octopus for an appetizer and had a great time jiggling the tentacle and grossing my mom out.

We  had a great time watching sea turtles, sharks and fish swimming past throughout our dinner. Another highly recommended restaurant!

After dinner we checked out the Sum of All Thrills. I believe this attraction is no longer in Innoventions, but it was a very cool ride. This was the only ride in EPCOT Nolan was not tall enough to ride, and this did cause a melt-down. Matthew enjoyed designing a flight on a fighter plane and using the protractor and other tools to learn about angles and physics. The robotic arms then took us on a simulated ride of the designed track.

The last ride we did was Test Track. This ride is a huge favorite of the boys and they still talk about designing and racing the cars.

We paid a visit to Mickey and headed back to our hotel for some pool time and bed!
