Advent, Day 1

My mom made gorgeous Advent calendars for the boys- with 25 little pockets to store surprises for each day. With these two curious boys, I can only load up one pocket at a time. Otherwise, the temptation would simply be too much and they would have all 25 "treats" at once! Today was the first day, and the boys had a great time finding their "surprise": little parachute animals!

that is a great idea. I haven't tried doing something like this. Queen Teen also has a hard time controlling her impulses (I'm surprised any of our gifts are still wrapped). I'm adding this to my list of things to do/make when I'm done with grad school.

My mom is rather crafty with a sewing machine. Which is wonderful, because I have no idea of what a "bobbin" might actually be, lol! Our boys really love it, and it is a good way to get the concept of hwo much time remains until Christmas. Matt is by far my more impulsive child- he thinks about consequences about 10 minutes after he's already gotten into trouble!

Wow those are really cool. Nice job gramma. Leah, just don't put candy corns or aspirins in there - the kids would be disappointed.

Kevin, I assure you we won't put aspirin in there- what did your parents do to you as a child? LOL! As for candy corn, the kids would probably love that (they claim they are candy deprived).

We have lots of little cheap toys- clackers and those capsules you put into the bathtub that turn into sponge animals, Pez dispensers, stickers, etc. that we are putting into the pockets every night. Matt runs down first thing every morning!
