September 1: Nolan's Fifth Birthday Party

We didn't have an elaborate party planned for Nolan's 5th Birthday, but we did invite over a few friends, opened up cans of silly string, and let the kids run around like crazy for a few hours.

Nolan had a great time. He loves superheroes, so we played "Spiderman tag" with the silly string.

He was happy to have his friends over and to simply have a happy day. He was smiling all day long.

I made some foam swords out of pool noodles (I wrapped the ends in Spiderman duct tape), and the boys really enjoyed playing with the "swords."

We did play a few organized games - a balloon stomp game and a water balloon toss game. The kids enjoyed these, but I think they liked running around with the foam swords the best.

Soon it was time for cake. I'm not sure how my little guy managed to grow to the ripe old age of FIVE.

He was pleased as punch to hear the Happy Birthday song in his honor, and happily blew out his candles.

He is a very lucky little boy and had several presents to open. His brother kept trying to "help" him open his gifts - Nolan didn't seem to mind as he was so very happy to see all of the neat new toys.

He had a great time, and we had a lovely Labor Day weekend. What a great way to end the summer!
