Firefly Party

Late June is one of my favorite times of the year. The weather is balmy, school is ending, and the fireflies start to flash their green lights. We invited some new friends to the house for a campfire and for the opportunity to catch some fireflies. This is one of the reasons I am glad we live in a rural area - you don't see many fireflies in the city.

The kids roasted a lot of marshmallows, but didn't really want to eat very many. Casey (our dog) managed to steal one from the end of Nolan's stick. He was quite the happy dog that night! My mom was visiting and the boys really loved giving Grandma roasted marshmallows and showing her their fireflies.

Everyone was very tired at the end of our party, and went to bed clutching their glow sticks and watching fireflies flash in their jars. If only summer could last forever!
